Certified to the GOTS and OEKO-TEX 100 standards, the organic latex we use is naturally flame retardant, dust mite-resistant, hypo-allergenic, antibacterial and antifungal. The latex is subject to strict regulations at every stage of the production process to ensure the final product is free from harmful toxins and has very low-VOCs.
For those who prefer a latex mattress with a removable cover for easy cleaning, we offer organic latex mattress styles made purely from a single latex layer and encased in our unique organic cotton and hemp cover. These organic latex mattresses offer firm support at an affordable price point.
Cool, Breathable Sleep
All the latex used in our chemical free latex mattresses and other latex products is certified organic and benefits from a breathable open cell structure. This structure helps to dissipate heat so you can rest comfortably throughout the night. Some materials create heat, but latex isn’t one of them. Furthermore, the absence of synthetic materials at every stage of the production process prevents exposure to chemical irritants that can disrupt sleep.
Sustainable Materials, Ethical Development
We care deeply ethical practice and have invested significantly into finding a business partner that shares our values. All the latex we use is certified organic; sourced from sustainable plantations in Sri Lanka where the employees are paid a fair wage.
Beyond the fair treatment of workers, we are also passionate about preserving the natural environment. Consequently, the latex harvesting methods utilised are low-impact and sustainable. Sap is collected by tapping the trees rather than cutting them down, allowing each tree to be produce many times.
Available Mattress Sizes
Our organic latex mattress range includes all standard sizes: single, king-single, double, queen, king. Latex mattresses can also be customised to super-king size upon request. Single and double latex mattresses will be made to either 193cm or 188cm, according to customer preference. To extend the life of an older mattress or add an extra layer of cushioning, we offer latex mattress toppers that can be made with a layer of natural wool.
For young children and babies, Australian made mattresses in either a cot or bassinet size are available. These mattresses are handcrafted from wool and coconut coir before being handstitched into an organic cotton cover.
As with all deliveries within Sydney, Mosman customers can expect The Natural Bedding Company to deliver their items personally. A double mattress is 137cm wide and comes in two lengths, the standard 188cm or a longer 193cm for taller sleepers. Because every mattress is made to order, we can confirm the exact size with you before we build it.
No, latex tends to sleep cooler than memory foam. Its open cell structure lets air move through the mattress rather than trapping heat against you, and the natural wool layer helps regulate temperature, so it stays comfortable on warmer nights as well as cold ones.
A well-made natural latex mattress can last 15 to 20+ years, considerably longer than most conventional spring mattresses, because latex is durable and holds its shape over time. A little care extends that further. Checking the underside for moisture and using a slatted base for airflow will get you the most years out of it.
A double comfortably suits one person who likes room to spread out. Two adults can share one, but at 137cm wide it gives each person around 68cm, which is narrower than a single bed. If you sleep two every night and want more space, a queen is usually the better choice. A double is ideal for solo sleepers, guest rooms and smaller bedrooms.
