Tasmanian Oak - This stunning native timber is the foundation of our timber bedroom furniture range. Certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, you rest assured your timber bed base has been sourced sustainably in a manner that respects the natural environment. The timber does not contain any harsh chemical toxins and is instead untreated and kiln dried. Harvested responsibly from certified forests in Victoria.
Untreated Radiata Pine - Used in our Lo-line timber bed frames, this premium timber is ethically sourced from New Zealand and Australia. This is a natural product, and the timber is never treated with chemicals like formaldehyde. The timber is kiln dried for strength and to remove any harmful microbes and pests.

For most timber bed frames, the height of the legs can be customised to some degree and the headboard will be tailored to suit the thickness of your mattress. A double mattress is 137cm wide and comes in two lengths, the standard 188cm or a longer 193cm for taller sleepers. Because every mattress is made to order, we can confirm the exact size with you before we build it.
No, latex tends to sleep cooler than memory foam. Its open cell structure lets air move through the mattress rather than trapping heat against you, and the natural wool layer helps regulate temperature, so it stays comfortable on warmer nights as well as cold ones.
A well-made natural latex mattress can last 15 to 20+ years, considerably longer than most conventional spring mattresses, because latex is durable and holds its shape over time. A little care extends that further. Checking the underside for moisture and using a slatted base for airflow will get you the most years out of it.
A double comfortably suits one person who likes room to spread out. Two adults can share one, but at 137cm wide it gives each person around 68cm, which is narrower than a single bed. If you sleep two every night and want more space, a queen is usually the better choice. A double is ideal for solo sleepers, guest rooms and smaller bedrooms.
